Well, teacherhood! The most beautiful job there is, as you have the opportunity to shape future generations into better, well at least this is how it’s advertised!
Do not get me wrong, I love being a teacher, even in the darkest days, however, it came the time to spill the tea about teacherhood!
And talking about spilling the tea, I recently saw a reel where someone was saying that the most clarifying moment was when they explained to their mom/grandmother what spilling the tea meant, and the advice they received in return was that tea can stain, so to be careful!
I understand that this applies in this case too, this is why, I want to mention from the start that this article is my personal opinion and it’s influenced by my own experience, my coworkers, my system, and many other factors. Take with you only what you find that resonates with your person!
Also, I wanted to write this article in the form of the newest/oldest trend I am…. of course I…
I won’t go on TikTok to create video content, but here are my 10 courses
- I am a teacher, and of course, I have blonde hair! Only because it’s easier to cover white hairs… When I started I had my natural color, with time, I decided to go blonde with no implications. However, when I got to my first class, someone joked around and said they would make me with white hair from how bad they were. The kids were difficult indeed, however way worse were parents! I started with a balayage, then full blonde, last week before redying my hair, I found a bunch of white hairs I didn’t have on Christmas!
- I am a teacher, of course, and I have to cover up for colleagues who don’t really do their jobs. I am talking about a few exceptions, but the ones that make for the rest of them, and it’s not really about teaching, but being there for the other administrative tasks we have, like weekly supervising for example.
- I am a teacher, and of course, I try to be impartial when colleagues have a conflict. Truth be told, I always try my best not to get into other people’s businesses. However, you are there in the teacher’s lounge, and you hear every damn thing, and sometimes, your opinion is asked, and you have to answer politely.
- I am a teacher, of course, I have colleagues who must criticize the work of others, who work more, who work less. In the same pattern as the previous point, and not quite the same as the second, cause it’s talking about actual teaching, is this thing I’ve seen that people really are like it’s X it’s more important, what are you teaching them anyhow, how to boil some fruits? It’s even worse when it’s from behind…
- I am a teacher of course I have more papers to do than time to teach. And I think I will embrace it. I’ve seen the concept of Emailing to cover your behind, and I think I enjoy the fact that I have the written proof to cover my back.
- I am a teacher, of course, and I’ve been judged for leaving 10 students out of 33 behind in the 9 grade. When I got my class I decided I didn’t want any interferences, and I also think that how you raise them is how they will behave. I did leave behind the ones who misbehaved and didn’t get good grades in order to have a better class in the future. And I HAVE! They know we don’t play around, that we are here to study! Yeah, I am fun at classes and we do real coaching!
- I am a young female teacher, of course, I had to prove I belong there… and that am I smart, and that I can do it! Even if I got the job by taking an exam.. to prove that! I know I was only 22 when I got the job and I got it out of the benches of college, but at least it would have been nice to put the problem more elegant than “an exam doesn’t make you a teacher”, cause it was the exam that actually got us the job of a teacher.
- I am a female teacher who works for a Ph., of course, I’ve taken a hit from the male side ( who needed to show that it’s equal and I shouldn’t think he is stupid and he isn’t good, he is better cause he has more experience and more firms of his own, by screaming to a bunch of women) for doing my job, and I didn’t report it not even now, a year after.
- I am a young unmarried teacher of course I’ve taken the Saturday straw! In the educational field, there are moments when you need to do some extracurricular things, like educational trips conferences, or fairs! These are usually on the Friday-Saturday calendar! And who do you think got the opportunity to work on Saturday on behalf of married people? Yeah.
- I am a teacher, of course, and I move on to this kind of thing for the better of students! I believe in the change I can make so I s#ck it up!
Yeah, these are 10 things about teacherhood that I wanted to share with you! I am thinking about sharing about my teaching experience in the college field too, but maybe after I finish my PhD, for safety purposes!
Until next time, however, I wish you all #adreamerlife and an amazing week!
