About April

Well, hello Dreamers!
April is ending soon, Easter has passed so quickly and someone, we won’t give names, has to go back to work.

Today, we’re gonna chit-chat about the previous weeks, so, take your cup of coffee, cozy up in a comfortable spot, take your cat with you, and be prepared for another fun story.

I do celebrate Easter as a religious holiday and that means that there is so much to do as an Easter-European for this single night!

No, in this family, we don’t celebrate Easter with egg hunts in the backyard, even though I am so tempted to plan this for my niece next year.

No, in this family, we match the spring cleaning processes with this holiday, and also somehow, we tend to make food for the entire village.

Anyone else? Just me? Ok!

Leaving the jokes aside, in this marvelous land of Eastern Europe, more specifically Romania, people are associating an excessive cleaning process and overcooking with the feeling of being proud and worthy.

I think it’s a genetic trait we pass to each generation because no matter how much I’ve tried to not become my mom, I kinda did.

Growing up, and old, meant getting interested in new lamb recipes, and cleaning products for the upcoming season.

And, at the end of the day, it’s fine!

Since April started, I was pretty much in a continuous rush. My final paper is due soon, so I had to buckle up and do some research in the lab for it. I also had to do 2 reports at the end of the month for school, cause yeah, we all expected this spring holiday, but come on, the paper we had to make, well, I think we all can agree that we hate that part.

We had the end of the March papers and also, mid-April cause it was technically, the end of the month.

And then, after the 15th of April, the marvelous season of Easter began.

As I am currently living with my boyfriend’s parents in Bran, near Brasov (I know, I know, Dracula’s Castle), the spring season for me it’s kinda doubled.

I started my free days with some cleaning around the house, our bedroom, bathroom, and some kitchen spaces. Best part?
Lots of laundries, so I can change my wardrobe, pack my winter clothes and make room for summer ones.

I also discovered that I might have an issue with clothing, I might be addicted and I admit it.

Next on my list was crafting, I made, in my opinion at least, some nice wreaths for this Easter.

It’s my first time doing Easter wreaths so, don’t be so judgmental.

Anyways, after a decent amount of time, I decided to go home too, just in time for the kitchen mess that was about to come.

I didn’t participate too much in the cleaning process of my own home, just a third of the kitchen, and my room.

But, I was involved in the process of cooking and baking. And while there’s not much evidence of it, the traditional Easter eggs are made by me, the lamb my grandma didn’t like, some muffins, and tiramisu bunnies.

It was also an entrement cake, but last year the story repeated itself. I started making it, it was amazing until the part where it had to gel.. and it didn’t. I believe it’s chocolate’s fault but who knows. Maybe someone up there doesn’t want me to make entrement cakes at home, cause in Brasov it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Yet, after 4 days of cooking, baking, and crafting again, the moment of truth came.

I took a shower, and we went to church at midnight to get the light for the ceremony.

Funny how, every other night but this, going to church at midnight might be considered sketchy…

I went with my boyfriend, sister, and brother-in-law, spend an hour or so, and went back home, to start a course of three days of social visits and lots of food.

And who doesn’t like a period of time filled with a pause in responsibilities, the food you like in excess, and lots of people coming to your door to share stories?

Yeah, Easter season has passed, and slowly, summer starts to be present. Temperatures are rising, electrical discharges are seen (I am a pluviophile and I love rain and storms…) and I am headed to new adventures!

As a fun fact, the Holy Saturday came with an ice storm… and I’m still dreaming of a summer wardrobe…

As a disclaimer, the planners’ supplies might be sisted for a while, I’m trying to get in a different direction, but not a definitive decision!

Now, we’ll see you tomorrow with a topic I wanted to share for a while, and I think the time it’s come. Stay tuned and have

  1. With everything that seems to be developing throughout this particular subject matter, your perspectives are generally somewhat exciting. On the other hand, I am sorry, because I do not give credence to your whole suggestion, all be it refreshing none the less. It would seem to everybody that your remarks are not entirely justified and in reality you are generally yourself not even thoroughly convinced of the argument. In any event I did appreciate reading through it.
