Hello, and happy Monday!
As I survived my class inspections today, it’s time to come back to more serious things!
Valentine’s Day calls for love stories that make your heart race, your eyes tear up, and your soul believe in romance all over again. Whether you’re a fan of timeless classics or dreamy love stories with a twist, here are five films to set the perfect mood. Or, if you are as tired as me, fall asleep on it!
1. Pride & Prejudice (2005)
First on the list is a movie that only caught my attention a few years ago. A romance so perfect, it never gets old. Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen deliver an unforgettable take on Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, with longing stares, heartbreaking misunderstandings, and the most poetic declarations of love. It’s a cliche, but you already know they are a cliche for a reason!
2. Casablanca (1942)
A true Hollywood classic that has been on my list for a very long time, and when I managed, well, I got the song I feel in love with you watching Cassablanca… Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman’s ill-fated love story set in WWII is filled with iconic lines, bittersweet romance, and the kind of chemistry that transcends time.
3. Roman Holiday (1953)
Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in a fairytale-like romance set in Rome? Yes, please. This charming film follows a sheltered princess who escapes her royal duties for a day of adventure with a dashing journalist. It’s sweet, funny, and full of classic European charm. Actually, any Audrey film is romantic and Valentine-worthy to me.
4. Midnight in Paris (2011)
A dreamy, nostalgic love letter to Paris, literature, and the magic of the past. Owen Wilson’s character stumbles into 1920s Paris, meeting icons like Hemingway and Fitzgerald while falling for a mysterious woman who makes him question everything.
5. About Time (2013)
A romance with a time-travel twist that will leave you both laughing and crying. Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams bring warmth and authenticity to a love story about cherishing every single moment. It’s emotional, beautiful, and deeply touching.
These 5 movies aren’t the best or the worst, but I really think they are a good fit for a cozy night in! What do you think?
