Three romantic and underrated destinations for Valentine’s Day

Well, hello again,, and good evening!

As the big event approaches, the topics are getting hotter and hotter. And I know I might be just too late for the party for most crowds, but some might just pull an ace from the sleeve and impress next Friday.

The rest of us must wait until next year to decide which of these next three destinations is our favorite choice!

The Azores, Portugal: Wild Beauty & Cozy Retreats

Nestled in the Atlantic Ocean, the Azores are an underrated gem for couples seeking a mix of adventure and relaxation. February in the Azores brings mild temperatures, averaging around 15°C (59°F), with lush green landscapes at their peak, thanks to winter’s gentle rains. Imagine soaking in a natural hot spring under the stars in São Miguel or watching the waves crash dramatically along the volcanic cliffs. The weather might be moody, but that only adds to the romance—cozying up in a charming boutique hotel, sipping local wine, and indulging in fresh seafood with an ocean view? Absolutely dreamy.

Lake Como, Italy: Timeless Elegance & Italian Charm

If there’s one place that embodies romance effortlessly, it’s Lake Como. February here is quiet, cool, and intimate, with temperatures hovering between 4-10°C (39-50°F). The crowds are gone, leaving the picturesque villages of Bellagio and Varenna even more enchanting. This is the perfect time to book a stay in a historic villa with lake views, take a private boat tour on the misty waters, or enjoy a candlelit dinner by the shore. And let’s not forget the Italian classics—indulging in rich risottos, fine wines, and decadent tiramisu just adds to the experience.

Lapland, Finland – A Fairytale in the Arctic

For those who dream of a winter wonderland, Lapland delivers an unforgettable Valentine’s escape. February here is at its most magical, with snow-covered forests, cozy wooden cabins, and temperatures that often dip to -10°C (14°F) or lower. But that’s what makes it special—you’ll be bundled up together under a sky painted with the Northern Lights, riding through the snow on a husky sled, or warming up by a fire with a mug of hot cocoa. Want to take it up a notch? Spend the night in a glass igloo, watching the auroras dance overhead.

To me, these are some intriguing destinations, but I’m not much for those hot, warm getaways.

For me, intimacy is created and lived best in a more cozy atmosphere where the temperature forces you to get closer and you aren’t in a crazy rush to do everything.

What do you think? What would you choose? Let me know, and as always, have #adreamerlife!
