Well, hello there, and happy Thursday!
As the monthly theme was Clean, Organize, and Plan, it was a shame to lose the opportunity to share my 10 ways that help me with my hoarding problem.
I am a hoarder, and I admit, but I also have it under control!
- Having a bag in my purse! I know I don’t always plan on going grocery shopping after work, and I know sometimes I do, This is why I learned (the hard way I might add) to keep a damn plastic bag in my purse and several in the car! Plastic bags, the ones we need to buy when we end up grocery shopping unexpectedly, will one day suffocate us; they are everywhere, and sometimes they’ll overflow our house. We don’t need more; we just need to have them on us!
- 10 minutes every day. Well, if you do an easy cleaning for 10 minutes every day, you’re most likely to have a neat home. And 10 minutes is barely an entertaining video, so do the 10 minutes when you put away the things!
- Putting your shoes, outwear, and bags away from the start. I am tempted too, but no, put them away from the start.
- Sorting things on seasonality. You don’t need Christmas bows in mid-July, the same way you don’t need a boho festival see-through blouse on New Year’s. You don’t wear evening dresses every week, so you don’t need to bump into them every time you get your jacket. Sort your things!
- Having a cleaning schedule. And I’ve detailed this here. Basically, if you have 10 minutes to clean everything, you might as well deep clean a room today, tomorrow, and so on.
- Recycling. Well, one thing that led to hoarding was the thing that I didn’t want to have an impact on the earth and I didn’t know what to do with things. So, I just kept them. Now information is everywhere, and we have different recycling options, so trust the process and go to recycling.
- Shopping lists. Well, having a plan on what to buy really helps keep your life clutter-free. Seriously. Do you need an extra pillow or simply a pillowcase? Do you need another house shirt, or you simply can repurpose a work one that has yellow stains?
- You don’t need it; it’s just on sale! So imagine you are in the market and the liquid detergent it’s on sale. But you haven’t started the bottle yet, and you do laundry only once a week. Statistically, you’ll get it on sale in more time until you run out. And it applies for so many things!
- Know what you own. On the same note is knowing what you own. You find a nice Hawaiian dress. You like it, you have a vacation planned this year, and you say that’s it, I’ll buy it. However, weeks later, when you clean up and organize, you find out, a nice Hawaii set you got from your sister 5 years ago, but who was lost as you didn’t need it? It’s not like you can wear it more than on vacations or maybe on Halloween, so make sure you know what you own.
- Eat before you shop. Emotional eating is not a myth, and it can make you overbuy things that will gather dust. Make sure you’ve eaten before going shopping. It can be that simple!
These are not what you’ve expected I guess, but I think are more than efficient!
