Hello dreamers and happy Tuesday!
Since the 15th of this month, Christians around the world started fasting for the birth of Jesus Christ!
While I am not here to talk about religion and religious behaviors, I however want to talk about fasting. A weight-losing method that is very present these days among other diets but with different aspects depending on the goals.
While modern fasting assumes you can eat whatever you want but in certain time frames, and maybe you also cut sugar, if you are going the old way, you can eat at any time you want, but you can’t eat anything.
The first type assures you have an easy weight loss journey; I, I however think that the old type is a more sustainable option.
In my humble opinion, this kind of fasting not only promotes meal diversification as it gets out of our comfort zone not to have meat on our plate, but it also helps with digestion due to an increased fiber intake and detoxification if done correctly!
As you cannot eat milk, dairy, meat, or eggs, you are pretty much left with a lot of veggies and fruits, nuts, and vegetable fats. Of course, you have grains, bread, and pasta too! Occasionally there is fish allowed for an extra protein intake!
But these rules, for me at least, make me go out of my comfort zone of cooking meat and sides, and that’s it for the day!
There are plenty of soup recipes for the cold season, plenty of recipes of for stuffed veggies, and plenty of salads and pasta to go for the month!
detoxify. I’m not saying you should go the old fasting way or fast at all, but for me, it’s a more sustainable way to lose weight, detoxify, and vary my recipes for this season! At least on Wednesdays and Fridays!
However, it’s only up to you; do whatever suits you and what makes you live #adreamerlife!
