Hello and good afternoon, dreamers!
Another day, another topic! Today I want to share some of the best news the tourism national department of Romania could ever dream of: to be included in the Best of the World 2025 by the National Geographic list!
Apparently, Brasov, the cute little old town at the base of the mountain, has its golden chair this year, next to L.A., Boise, Guadalajara, and many others!
As they say: “Why Go Now: Trek the Transilvanica Trail
The medieval city of Brasov is the gateway to the Transylvania region, a land of ancient forests, rustic villages, and Carpathian peaks. And with its new airport—Romania’s first in 50 years—Dracula’s homeland is more approachable. Explore the region along the Via Transilvanica, a hiking trail completed in 2022 that runs 870 miles from the Ukrainian border to the Danube.
The Terra Saxonum section of the route passes through Saxon hamlets and the 12th-century town of Sighişoara, a UNESCO World Heritage site, while the Terra Dacica section winds among vineyards and Dacian fortresses.“
In the name of the country and the city, I can tell you that we are blushing for such great words, and it’s an honor!
But let me give you some more reasons to come!
- Like any other good list of reasons to visit something in Romania, I will start with our amazing food! Everyone who came already knows what I am talking about! If not, what do you say about food that always tastes like your grandmother’s love?
- This city, Brasov, has the tales of your old towns and the perks of big city life! It manages to blend the old architecture with the new trends; it has all it takes to be a mountain town and, at the same time, all the advantages of a fully developed city. Old and new merging.
- You can find ways to hike trails in the middle of the city, and some more complicated ones!
- You are in the middle of the country! You can get anywhere you want in a matter of hours: to the sea, to other mountains, other towns, or even the capital!
- It’s an aesthetic town for every aesthetic! If you love nature aesthetics, we’ve got you; if you love old town aesthetics, we’ve got you, if you love city vibes, we’ve got you, countryside, lake life, opulent life, super-car life—all of these and many more are here for your mood board!
- We are on the list of some of the greenest cities in Europe!
- We are nice people!
- You are less than an hour closer to the inspiration from Bran Stoker’s inspiration for Dracula’s Castle: Bran Castle!
- We have the oldest schools in Romania, and you can visit them!
- And these are just some of the things that crossed my mind in a minute!
