Hello dreamers and good morning!
After two weeks of extreme heat and drought, it looks like at least in some parts of Romania rains are starting to fall. In others, the lack of water managed to compromise all the crops.
At home, we don’t even have a lawn anymore, even if we water it. The backyard grass from the orchard is dried out, even some trees are dying. In the city, I had 32 degrees in my apartment, and some friends said outside of the city they had 38 in the house, in the Southern part of the country.
Everything is drying out and I can’t stop thinking how we got here. As a child, I remember having Christmasy sceneries in December, amazing flower gardens filled with butterflies, long dreamy autumns, and warm summers. Warm not hot, and with plenty of rain.
As I grew up the snow storms became a memory, the snow itself became lately a memory, and summers went from the moment I was finally able to wear shorts and dresses to the moment when I wanted to rip off my skin. Also, I remember there were floods, and I’m not saying that a flood it’s something to wish for, but really, the chances are near to zero as it barely rains.
And it’s not even the worst, cause some areas suffer even more. The water supply isn’t enough to sustain crops, gardens, and lawns. At least the wildfires are that big of a deal in our area.
I remember my grandma always telling us to fear the great hunger that would come as she faced one when she was under 10. And if things don’t change drastically, it’s imminent!
And for what? For private planes? It has been discovered that what we can change doesn’t even compare with the carbon footprint of someone with a private jet. This doesn’t mean that we should give up on making small changes, it just means to stop promoting this lifestyle and maybe increase awareness of the problem.
Maybe we should become more patient in waiting on our overseas delivery, on waiting for our favorite stars tours, on waiting for the bus instead of the car and many other small changes.
Maybe even plant more trees and go to a sustainable landscaping.
Well, this is the unbearable heat wave in Romania and Eastern Europe. I really hope that it will eventually pass and not become worse than it is.
Until next time, I wish you #adreamerlife!
