Hello dreamers, and happy Thursday!
As I promised yesterday when I launched Your Christmas Gift Guide in 2023, I gave the start for holiday blogging. And what better way to start the season if not with more holiday prep? Today I want to share with you my checklist for Christmas crafts.
Either if we talk about natural ones, or bought ones, it’s always better to start early.
Natural resources:
- Pine cones
- Chestnuts
- Acorns
- Wood/Logs
- Coniferous branches
- Ivy
- Mistletoe
Most of these resources can be procured all year long, and they will be maintained very well. However, if you are just starting, it’s not too late to search the forests.
However, for the branches, you might want them fresh, and you can either opt for a florist or for forests, where there are legally cut trees.
For the other decor, like balls, garlands, stars, and so on, you might want to search for deals, as they are starting to get really expensive these days!
However, there are some other supplies that help you in the process and I listed them below.
- Blank Ornaments: Begin your crafting journey with blank ornaments. These versatile canvases come in various shapes and sizes, providing the perfect foundation for your artistic expression. From traditional ball ornaments to unique shapes like stars and snowflakes, you’ll find endless possibilities to customize.
- Acrylic Paints: Bring your ornaments to life with a vibrant array of acrylic paints. Reds, greens, golds, and silvers are classic Christmas colors, but don’t be afraid to experiment with unexpected hues. Create intricate designs or opt for a minimalist approach – the choice is yours!
- Paintbrush Set: A quality paintbrush set is an essential companion to your acrylic paints. Ensure you have a variety of brush sizes to tackle everything from broad strokes to fine details. Experiment with different brush techniques to add texture and dimension to your ornaments.
- Glitter and Sequins: This is the season to sparkle! Elevate your Christmas crafts with the magic of glitter and sequins. Whether you’re adding a subtle shimmer or going all out with a glitter extravaganza, these embellishments bring a touch of enchantment to your decorations.
- Craft Paper and Cardstock: Craft paper and cardstock are versatile materials for creating everything from paper ornaments to intricate snowflakes. Experiment with various patterns and textures to add depth and interest to your Christmas decor.
- Ribbon and Twine: Add a festive finishing touch to your creations with ribbons and twine. These versatile materials can be used to hang ornaments, create bows, or embellish wreaths. Explore different colors and patterns to match your overall theme.
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks: The glue gun is a crafter’s best friend. Use it to securely attach ornaments, affix ribbons, or assemble intricate designs. Keep a stock of glue sticks on hand to ensure you never run out of adhesive power.
- Fabric Scraps: If you enjoy sewing or working with fabric, repurpose scraps into charming Christmas decorations. Create fabric ornaments, stockings, or even a festive table runner to add a cozy touch to your home.
- Stencils and Stamps: Stencils and stamps are excellent tools for achieving precise and repeatable designs. Use them to create uniform patterns on ornaments, gift tags, or even wrapping paper.
- Mod Podge: Seal the deal with Mod Podge, a versatile decoupage medium. Use it to adhere paper, fabric, or glitter to your creations, and give them a polished, professional finish.
These crafts you can use either as gifts, personalized, or as home decor. And if it is to talk about gifts, you might want to check Your Christmas Gift Guide, mentioned above!
I’ll let you some ideas of my crafts, and until next time have #adreamerlife!
