Oh, but hello September, I think it’s time to go back to school.
I remember when I first started to go to school. With fear in my heart, cause we were in a post-communist reality and punishments were still a thing, I stepped into what was about to be my reality almost 20 years later.
Maybe it’s the family gene, but as much as I disliked school, here I am as a teacher. Don’t be fooled. I disliked it, but I was as good as any other kid that wanted a future. Yeah, maybe I would’ve loved to do anything else, but I focused on my dreams and goals.
Yeah, things changed since then. Things are different from one country to another, from one year to another, but here we are to shape the generations to come.

Back to school in 2022

After two years of the pandemic, war, and many challenges, my third year as a teacher begins. How? With a different year structure, with new promises of increased salaries, more and more responsibilities on the daily basis.
What are my expectations?
Well, I hope that I can achieve my primordial goal: to change at least one student’s life. Each year I did it. One of them started his own Instagram food page and has a Youtube Channel with recipes. You can check it out here. I’m happy that I was able to encourage him to pursue his dream.
Another goal is to become better at my job. I am a beginner, there is always room for improvement.
I hope that I’ll have more patience and be more understanding. These, I think are the key to success in this job.
I also hope that my students are more understanding, more mature, and also more willing to learn.
What I am afraid of?
Well, I am afraid of the system. We all know it, we all experienced it and I don’t trust it.
I’m afraid of the new challenges to come. I have to enroll myself in a new degree, and it’s going to be a bit different.
I’m afraid that I won’t be enough for the students. In an era of technology and information everywhere, being caught off guard is the worst nightmare for a high school teacher.
But all these, are just fears we have to face every year.
