Fashion trends 2022

Good morning dreamers, your one and only speaking.
New year sparkle caught me too, and in the light of the event, when I set my goals for the next 12 months, I was lured into expanding my expertise.

That being said, remember a few days ago when I said that new categories will show up on my blog?
The big uncovering moment came! Well, at least for one of them, cause more is yet to come.

As you might’ve guessed from the title, the new category I’m launching is, of course about fashion and not only.
When I switched to a lifestyle blog instead of a journal one, I ran away from fashion.

I honestly thought it was way beneath me, that was just some superficial topic and one that promotes consumerism in excess, pollution, and inequitable resource exploitation.

And I still believe it, don’t be fooled. Then why the sudden migration in this direction?

Well, let’s simplify things and not get lost in the words, I don’t believe in fashion, I believe in style. To be more precise, in personal style.

I’m not the one that follows the trends, one of the reasons being that they change so quickly that the chances that my article to be outdated until I hit the post, are extremely high.

Yet, even though I’m not following the trends, I like to be informed whether or not I manage to find some staples that suit me.

That’s being said, I managed to do some research on the upcoming fashion trends of the year 2022 and now it’s time to share with you.

Disclaimer, this article is not sexist, it applies to all fashion for both men and women, but there are more visual details for women.

Shall I begin? Let’s dip the toe before we dive in!

Color of the year: Veri Peri PANTONE 17-3938

According to Pantone, this color will dominate in the year 2022. What can I say? I think it’s going to go well with my blog, yet not see myself wearing it, maybe just accents as in monochrome outfits, but that’s it.

Now, that we did accommodate, let’s get serious.

The bigger, the better. I’m talking about the shoes platform.
Yeah, you heard right, platforms and chunky shoes are a thing again. Can’t say that I’m a fan, but there are some pieces I like and love to wear.

Last model is a male one, but the first two I my favorite cold season items, and you can find them here.

The 2000s are back. Yeah, ’80- ’00s are back and we all realized it when we got lost in a sea of flared pants. Now, we hot back even more and brought back low-rise jeans and chain belts. Only hearing about it, made me have a kidney crisis. Yeah, gen Z influencers might kill me because of my opinion, but I’ll stay true to skinny jeans and think about making stocks.

The sexier you are, the more in vogue you are.
Micro miniskirts, cut-out everything, and bra tops. If that doesn’t scream sexy, I don’t know what. At least for fashion critics.
I, for instance, love mini-skirts and brallets. Unfortunately, job ethics don’t allow me to wear them on a basis and Covid took away my social life so my sexy-dream aesthetics are just a dream.

As for cut-outs, not my favorites, not my wants. Just one staple in my closet, and that’s a nice sweater.

Standing out is also a trend. Here are we talking about sparkle and texture. These two beauties are accomplished by metallic looks, sequins feathers, and fringe. You’ll find them in everything, bags, shoes, clothes, accessories.

I’m in love with the idea of feathers and sequins, not so much of fringe. If the first two evoke mystique, elegance, and glamour, I think the last one evokes casualness. I am ok with it, just don’t feel it’s practical or elegant. Chick, yeah, of course.

As for metallics, I’m on this trend, when it comes to my nails and accessories, can’t wait to try them.

The big two conflicts. There is 2 intentional major conflict that hit the runway this year, and one is something I was expecting for a long time. I hope this comeback is putting an end to an era where I can’t find anything that fits me.

Probably this is the moment where some of you will leave this page and never come back and I’m ok with it because I’m super excited that tailored jackets are on the podium along with oversized jackets.

I am petite and I love tailored clothes, so imagine how fun it was for me to find business (teacher affordable) jackets, that I like, that fit me well.

Guilty of having ONE oversized jacked that I usually use in casual outfits. So yeah, one conflict is enlightened, but what about the second?

In the same manner of tops, a similar conflict sits on the bottoms too. Mini skirts VS Maxi skirts.

Miniskirt team to be. I love my legs and love to expose them as much as I can. Maxi ones, I think that covers me too much, makes me older, and takes away my charm.

That’s being said, I think I covered the main trends, but I’d love to give a shoutout to smaller trends out there.

Preppy style: Who doesn’t look a throwback to the Fashion icon of our youth’s style, Blair Waldorf?

The same side of fashion trends is pearls

And tweed…

And voila. Here you have it! The only thing I could have sworn I’ll never post is up, and maybe one of the longest blog-post so far. I also find it hard to admit, it was fun researching about it and writing it.

Don’t forget my dears, this is only my opinion and it’s based on my style, but I would love to hear your opinions on it so hurry up and send some thoughts.

Crissu
