As holidays come closer and closer, everywhere you go, you hear or say to the people you’ll never see again until Christmas. The wings are classics: Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Happy holidays, and Happy New year but my favorite of all time is Happy Christmas!
But how can we define a Happy Christmas?
For one it can mean holidays away from home, for the other can mean to finally see his family after a long time, for the other a vacation, another one can understand a free office for them to work. The kid with crafts down the street might wish for Santa to visit and his mom another meal. The dog that followed you might hope for a forever home. Your neighbor can dream of quiet, your friend of parties and so on. But what do you think of when wishing someone a Happy Christmas?
I know the world is full of things I don’t understand, of people more fortunate than me and people that wish for at least a small part of what I have. This thing allows me to understand better my needs, my gifts, my goals, my position in this world, my opportunities, and the fact that I am so blessed every day which I am grateful for.
But, coming back to the previous question, for example, when I wish someone Happy Christmas I wish them to have the same feeling I have when I have a Happy one.
They most definitely don’t wish for a white Christmas with Family, a perfectly decorated home, with gifts under the tree designed to match its decor, with a winter cake on the table, many red velvet muffins, and coffee at nine AM when everyone opens the gifts Santa left at exactly mid-night under.
They might not wish for a Christmas-eve dinner with family and friends, with elegant outfits and cheery vibes.
The Christmas they, many won’t wish to stay in with bae, walking up next to them in an embrace only to fight with snow in mid-day.
This is my Christmas fantasy that makes me happy. The real Christmas that is a bit different makes me happy too. In general, is full of imperfect things that make it perfect. A perfect tree destroyed by funny cats, tasty food served in unmatched sets, delicious sweets decorated as ugly as possible. Not a big house, but crowded with people that in a way of another love each other.
For me, that’s what is a happy Christmas about and, my soul laughs, is full o joy, of relief, it takes a break from everything and, this is what I wish everyone feels when I say Happy Christmas!
