Hello there!
As I said in one of my previous articles Summer Bucket List, one thing I really wanted to do was a wheat photoshoot. Not only taking pictures of me, but also improving my skills. Another reason why I wanted to do it, is that I think people really underestimate this crop.
Every spring you’ll see rape-flower photo shoots or poppy photoshoot. In summer your feed might turn purple with that lavender. Also you can see a lot of sunflower and wheat bale photos but not so much with wheat fields (there are some but not as many as the rest I mentioned or maybe I just didn’t find them I dunno).
Anyways, this year I had everything I needed to have this photoshoot. I was at home so I had my car and I was able to drive and find a wheat field, my car was working, I had my camera, my tripod, enough memory cards, charged batteries, cloudy weather and I mean those stormy clouds that can make every picture pop, I had a model willing to take pictures, I had free time so what could have gone wrong?
Really, what could have gone wrong?
Even if I told my model about the photoshoot several days before, yesterday morning she cancelled. I called my best-friend and told her to go just the two of us. She needed some pics for her Ig and blog (Wazzy’s world), but she had something to do that afternoon and told me that we’ll see. Basically I thought that the day was compromised and we’ll lose the opportunity cause people will start harvesting wheat soon and we won’t have those golden fields anymore.

A good thing? Well, she finished earlier than expected. We started preparing ourselves and when we were almost ready, bam – my family had guests and was pretty impolite to go out without staying with them a little.
With a 30 min delay I was on my way to pick Elena. We went to a place I spotted earlier last week. At some point, we had to leave the main road and just take a country road. My biggest problem was the fact that even if those clouds were perfect for photos, if it started to rain, well, I wouldn’t have been able to go out with my car from that place.

I decided to leave my car somehow at the middle. Half distance from main road, half from our wheat field. I also thought that being 6.00 PM, Sunday and middle of nowhere people won’t use that road so I left my car right in the middle.
Was I right? OFC not! Two cars came to see their crops, owners of the wheat included. An middle age couple that start asking us names and where are we from and what are we doing in their property. The wife just start laughing and said to go on. Personally I didn’t felt good to ruin a corner of their wheat, but when they turned their car and ruined more than me and my friend did, I started felling a little bit better.
After the second car came I decided to move my car, even if they had room to pass it over. Not a single car passed over after this, and I decided to put my car keys in the bag with my lens and cards and everything.
While I was worried about those big and dark clouds, after almost one hour and a half of shooting a summer rain came from behind. Some light clouds we didn’t even noticed.

We started running to my car while I realised that I don’t have the keys in my back pocket. I run back where everything was and only after I looked down I realised what I have done with them. Run back while was still raining a shower rain to be exactly and in the moment we got to the car obviously it stopped. We could have just go back to go on but we were wet, our hair started to curl up and decided to just go back not risking it anymore.

I left her home and headed to my place too, laughing and knowing that I’ve done one thing on my bucket list and I’ve done in such a way.
I will always remember my first wheat field photoshoot and laugh about it.
If we can’t see things in a funny way, why do we bother to live?
This experience won’t stop me for trying another time this theme, is actually making me wanting to try it on different weather conditions.
Here are some of the pictures I took with my phone but also with my camera and I had time to edit a bit. The difference between edits is because some of them I edited in LrMobile some on my laptop. Rest of them will be loaded this week in Gallery.

Hope this article made your day better and why not, maybe inspired you!
